DAC Cocci Tabs are a sulfonamide antibiotic used in the treatment of coccidiosis. Tablets are easy to administer orally and you are assured your bird is getting the needed dose of medication. If a strain of cocci is being resistant to other treatments or your bird has lost interest in drinking then this is a treatment option. Labeled for Pigeons. Coccidiosis is common in young birds and also can affect older birds when their immune system is compromised. Coccidiosis is a parasitic disease of the intestinal tract of animals caused by coccidian protozoa. There are numerous strains of this protozoa and fast treatment is necessary for good outcomes.
Damage to the intestinal tract from coccidiosis can lead to compromised digestion and even death. Coccidiosis can reoccur due to exposure to a different strain than the precious infection or not properly medicating to cover the entire lifecycle of the organism. The most common treatment for coccidiosis is Amprolium, a coccidiostat, which is a thiamine uptake inhibitor. Cocci feeds on thiamine so this limits their food source, Amprolium, despite being the most used coccidiostat has only moderate efficacy.
When treating birds for coccidiosis we highly recommend not using a multivitamin with thiamine, especially if only using amprolium. Due to the moderate efficacy of amprolium we recommend using other treatment options such as this medication.

Curative: One tablet per pigeon (400-500g of body weight), for 3-5 consecutive days or as veterinarian prescribes.
Preventative: One tablet per pigeon (400-500g of body weight), for 1-2 consecutive days.
