DAC Adeno Extra is an alternative to treating coccidiosis in birds that is resistant to amprolium and also effective against types of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria such as e-coli and salmonella. Easy to individually dose in tablet form and more accurate doing than using a water soluble product. With tablets you are ensured your birds is getting the needed medication to combat their illness. If needing to treat a lot of birds this product is available in a water soluble powder for use in drinking water. This product is labeled for pigeons and hobby birds, for species specific dose consult your veterinarian.

Coccidiosis is common in young birds and also can affect older birds when their immune system is compromised. Coccidiosis is a parasitic disease of the intestinal tract of animals caused by coccidian protozoa. There are numerous strains of this protozoa and fast treatment is necessary for good outcomes.

Damage to the intestinal tract from coccidiosis can lead to compromised digestion and even death. Coccidiosis can reoccur due to exposure to a different strain than the precious infection or not properly medicating to cover the entire lifecycle of the organism. The most common treatment for coccidiosis is Amprolium, a coccidiostat, which is a thiamine uptake inhibitor. Cocci feeds on thiamine so this limits their food source, Amprolium, despite being the most used coccidiostat has only moderate efficacy.

When treating birds for coccidiosis we highly recommend not using a multivitamin with thiamine, especially if only using amprolium. Due to the moderate efficacy of amprolium we recommend using other treatment options such as this medication.

Coccidiosis in Birds and Medication Options

Use:

Adeno/E-coli syndrome, Paratyphoid and Coccidiosis.
Combination tablet for oral individual treatment of Adeno/E-coli Syndrome, Paratyphoid and Coccidiosis in pigeons.

The combination of trimethoprim and sulfa provides a good bactericidal effect; both antibiotics act in a different way. This combination is effective against Gram-positive bacteria (e.g. Staphylococcus and Streptococcus), Gram-negative bacteria (e.g. E-coli, Salmonella (Paratyphus)) and Coccidiosis.

Dose:

1 tablet per pigeon for 3-5 consecutive days or as prescribed by a veterinarian.

Active Ingredients:

Sulfamethoxazole 37.5mg / Trimethoprim is 7.5ml per tablet

Contents:

50 tablets for individual oral treatment of hobby birds only.
